Dear Friends,

Once again, we want to write to express our appreciation and gratitude for your generosity and support of the scholarship remembering our sister, Debbie. This scholarship has made a major difference in the lives of Jewish students in need of assistance in pursing their educational dreams. Your personal and continued commitment to the Debra Roth Friends and Family Scholarship means the world to us.

We look forward to the coming year as Alana will be graduating in May and will become a veterinarian. She and Mat and their two cats and dog will be figuring out their next move in the near future. Lauren continues working in the restaurant business while playing drums in a performing punk band, and volunteering in the music world in the bay area. She now has family in the area since Stephanie, Carlos and Billie recently moved to Oakland. Aaron is still in NYC working and comes to visit as often as possible. David A. has been teaching English in China for the past year, and will return to the states this fall. Lucy is beginning her senior year at Ohio State and Joni and Nick are in Georgia at Fort Benning. Joni is a fitness trainer and therapist and Nick is moving forward with his MBA education at Emory, while serving as Captain in the US Army.

This scholarship program is the largest one serving Jewish students in the area. This past year, with the help of family and friends, we were able to raise over $8,000, providing scholarships to three young women as they move toward their chosen careers.

We know that this scholarship is an appropriate and respectful way to remember our beloved Debbie.  We can’t believe that it’s over thirteen years since we lost her. She would so approve of this program. Hopefully you will join us by honoring Debbie’s memory with a gift to this program.  No matter the size of your gift, we will appreciate your support.  It will make a difference in the lives of deserving students.
