Job Description and Duties:

This Youth Job Developer/Facilitator will initiate, maintain, and develop employer relationships with the purpose of placing Youth clients into Paid Work Experience or long-term employment.   The expectation is that this individual will make 10-20 cold calls per week to prospective employers.    This may involve presentations to various groups/businesses as it pertains to job placement goals and partner agencies.

The Youth Job Developer/Facilitator (YJD/F) will be responsible for facilitating Work Readiness workshops for Youth to prepare them for Work Experience and/or permanent employment.  This individual will also coach participants on interview skills and assist clients in writing targeted resumes if needed.

The YJD/F must maintain records and update case notes in the County or State database.  The position requires meeting contract goals for participant enrollment, file compliance, training completion, and job placement.

Other duties assigned as needed for the efficient operation of the Center/Program. Must meet weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly program goals as set by Program Supervisor.

 

Qualifications and Position Requirements:
Proven track record in business-to-business sales in a performance driven occupation.  Must have experience in sales.  Experience in public speaking and/or facilitating workshops is desirable.  Demonstrated track-record of collaborating in teams. Requires excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Requires the ability to understand labor market information and employer requirements.

Must be highly organized, detail orientated and work within time restraints and deadlines.

This is a Monday through Friday, typically 8am – 5pm.  Although some evenings and weekends may be required thus flexibility is necessary.

Knowledge of WIOA common measures and requirement are a plus.

Proficient in Microsoft office products including Outlook, Work, Excel and PowerPoint.  Must be able to type and be comfortable in front of a computer.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Will work in an office environment, may travel to employer and client work sites.   Must be able to operate standard office equipment. Requires traveling to various business and other work sites.

Welcomes customers and identifies customer needs and expectations to create a positive customer experience. Meet and exceed performance and outcome goals as set by the county funding agency and compliance to contract requirements.

Provides referrals to community partner/agencies/resources as necessary.

 

Qualifications and Position Requirements:
Demonstrated experience communicating effectively with stakeholders in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills.

Prior experience with dislocated worker and/or high-risk populations is helpful.  Skill in facilitating groups, writing resumes and working with diverse population is useful.

Have fluency in Microsoft Office software and other relevant software.

Ideally, a minimum of 2 years of experience in Workforce Development or career counseling.

Knowledge of CalJOBSSM system very helpful.

Must be detail oriented and have the ability to write clear, concise, professional case notes. Must be able to read and write effectively to follow and understand procedures and communicate necessary information (excellent organizational skills). Must be flexible, reliable, dependable and able to work in a team environment. Ability to use good judgment, interview techniques and interpersonal skills.

Education/Certification/Licensure
BA preferred or 3 or more years of related experience.
Preferred:    Bilingual in Spanish or other community-based language.
