Job Description and Duties:
Organizes and administers assessment/testing instruments, both individually and in groups, for diverse populations. Clients may have physical, psychological, emotional developmental and/or learning disabilities; be blind or visually Impaired, receive public assistance; or be unemployed. Conducts intake interviews and exit conferences with clients and staffing with referring counselors from the Department of Rehabilitation. Observes consumer behavior, writes narrative notes, completes forms, and maintains case files. Writes reports with recommendations for clients and to referring agencies. Works with clients from the Department of Rehabilitation, LACOE/ GAIN/ GROW participants and other interagency referral sources. Also, works with consumers who use assistive technology, ergonomic solutions and other methods of accommodation. Communicates with consumers and referring counselors. Responsibilities may include job development, seeking appropriate employment opportunities for clients, working with clients to develop job search skills and workplace readiness. Works independently and as part of a team. Works at off-site locations, as needed.
Qualifications and Position Requirements:
Experience, knowledge, and skill in evaluating work behaviors, skills, aptitudes, interests, and motivation. Skilled in utilizing a full range of assessment instruments including, but not limited to paper and pencil tests, work samples, and computerized assessments. Skilled at adapting assessment instruments to the needs of clients with disabilities. Good counseling skills. Knowledge of community and labor market resources. Must have strong written and oral communication skills and MS Office proficiency. Experience in writing vocational evaluation or client service reports and the ability to provide feedback to clients. 1 to 4 years of experience in Case Management and/or Administration of Assessments.
Able to perform multiple concurrent tasks in a classroom testing setting, operate computerized equipment/assistive technology as necessary. Ability to lift 10 pounds preferred.
M.A./M.S in Rehabilitation Counseling, Career Counseling, School Counseling, Special
Education or related field or relevant certification:
Preferred Bilingual in Spanish, Russian, Farsi or Arabic. State Department of Rehabilitation, GAIN or GROW experience. (CRC, CVE, NCCC, NBCC, PPS).
