Program Description:

JVS SoCal provides valuable job preparation and job search skills to clients of L.A. County’s General Relief Opportunities for Work (GROW).

Job Description and Duties:

Supervision of assigned staff; coordinate activities of the program staff; develop and implement integrated systems to provide maximum utilization of resources and to avoid duplication of effort. Participate with the Director and other senior staff in formulating policies and plans. Will serve as a liaison between agency and DPSS and may represent the agency at and participate in related community activities. Coordinate and effectively implement participant information and referral services, including access to and or referral. Coordinate internal efforts with collaborators to ensure compliance with agreements and services. Coordinate development of common procedures, forms and communication. Participate in DPSS and State audits, monitor and ensure all participant files are following policies and procedures as stated in the Statement of Work Performance Summary Requirements. Coordinate meetings with staff and provide ongoing coaching and support.

Qualifications and Position Requirements:

Must have a track record of job placements or have the capacity of demonstrating this ability. Must know or willing to acquire/upgrade skills in developing resumes responding to the requirements of contemporary job markets. Must have proficient computer skills, commitment to quality, and a desire to inspire and assist unemployed and disadvantaged to obtain employment. Must meet identified employment goals on a monthly basis.

Strong motivational and oral presentation skills, with experience in leading groups in a classroom setting and ability to de-escalate tense situations. Should have concern for participants, and some knowledge of social settings; must be up-to-date in the contemporary trends of the American labor market. Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; prioritize the workload and be a team player.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Must be able to operate standard office equipment, may travel to different locations. Will work in business and classroom settings.


BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience.

Bi-lingual is a plus with a minimum of 2 years of experience working in job development, placement and/or employment counseling.
