As the Foundation and Corporate Grants Manager, you will have a direct impact in the lives of those we serve. You have a passion to help our program teams provide those most in need with the case management, job skills, training and tools required to give them a fresh start and a new career path and will research and write proposals to new and returning funders. You will have experience in and understand the Workforce Development system.

Job Description and Duties:
JVS SoCal is seeking a passionate, mission-aligned creative person who will manage all aspects of researching, planning, writing and submitting grant applications to foundation and corporate funders. The ideal candidate is a goal-oriented team player who enjoys and is successful working independently and in a fast-paced team environment. You will bring creativity to blend with funding requirements to explore opportunities for strategic growth and expansion.
This position will supervise a Proposal Writer and mentor the Grants Development Specialist. You will manage the funding process from prospecting through to award. As the manager of this process you, will attend bidders’ meetings, evaluate grant applications for feasibility, develop and sustain relationships with Foundation and Corporate program officers, review each foundation and corporate LOI and proposal for content, flow and accuracy prior to submission, write mid-year and year-end reports, maintain excellent historical records, and schedule and lead launch meetings for new funding awards to ensure the program team fully understands the goals, outcomes and expectations of each award. In the proposal process, you will work with the finance department and program lead to develop the budget for funding requests. You will track all foundation and corporate revenue generated and provide quarterly updates to Senior Manager, Grants and Contracts. You will report to the Senior Manager, Grants and Contracts.
Ideal candidates will have:
- a minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in grant writing and foundation/corporate grant research in the employment, training, social services, and/or educational arenas
- knowledge of philanthropic fundraising sources, research techniques and strategies for prospect research and fundraising
- a minimum of three years demonstrated success securing and managing foundation/corporate grant awards for a total portfolio of at least $300,000
- a minimum two years of direct staff supervision experience
- the ability to come up with creative program ideas and build strategic partnerships
Ideal candidates have successfully worked with vulnerable populations in programs designed to foster personal growth and success. You bring demonstrated success in strong conceptual, computer and organizational skills; competency in Raiser’s Edge or similar donor database; you embrace illustrating outcomes with more than just data and you pay strict attention to detail. You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
Able to operate standard office equipment and work from a blended home and office environment.
Minimum BA/BS in Social Work, Education, Writing/Literature, Public Policy, Non-Profit Management or a related social service field.
