Rapid Response Coordinator introduce programs and services provided at Job Centers of California as well as assist a diverse pool of program participants with their career planning and career decision-making process, including intensive career counseling, assessment, and job search assistance and retention services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and maintains comprehensive departmental calendars.
  • Will illicit responses from businesses to utilize our rapid response services for non-warn layoffs.
  • Prepares tracking reports and submits documentation for monthly reports.
  • Participates in job or information expos, refers participants to Job Centers, provides access to CalJobs, provides information on resources for emergency assistance, delivers rapid response informational materials.
  • Provides TAA orientations, coordinates orientation meetings with employees, provides training orientation on industry specific opportunities, provides information about all services available via the One Stops, assess for layoff aversion potential and conducts planning meetings with the employer.
  • Participates as part of the Rapid Response Team to provide layoff and layoff aversion services to businesses having difficulty retaining staff due to economic conditions.
  • Must be able to analyze business climate of industry sectors and utilize current business data to conduct research, make cold calls and business outreach calls.
  • Must work as part of a team responsible for our centers Performance Excellence.
  • May facilitate job readiness workshops and will track client data in internal and state databases through data entry, comprehensive case notes and reports. Must meet program goals as established annually.

Education and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • BA or BS degree in Career Counseling, communications, or related field.
  • Proven track record in business-to-business sales in a performance driven occupation.
  • Requires excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Requires the ability to understand labor market information and employer requirements. Must be very comfortable and have the ability to cold call, network and open new business.
  • Public speaking and presentations are mandated.
  • Must be highly organized, detail orientated and work within time restraints and deadlines. Work flexible hours, early morning, evenings and weekends may be required.
  • At least two years of experience in Workforce Development or career counseling.
  • Bilingual fluency (e.g., English/ASL, English/Spanish, etc.) and ability understand another culture as required by the program or local community highly desired.
