Los Angeles, June 2, 2023 – Last night, JVS SoCal’s Strictly Business Awards Dinner honored outstanding individuals and corporations in our community who have set the standard for social responsibility and philanthropy. Year after year, our generous employment partners and donors come together to support JVS SoCal’s mission to provide people with the necessary tools, resources, no-cost job training, placement assistance, and retention support to help them overcome barriers to employment.

This year’s Corporate Partnership Award was presented to RadNet, a national leader in outpatient imaging, delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions at its 375 centers. “RadNet has been an outstanding partner in our mission to empower people through sustainable employment,” said JVS SoCal’s Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Carr . “We are delighted to recognize an organization that takes a chance on our program participants by hiring them upon graduation.”

Accepting the award on behalf of RadNet are CEO Howard Berger, M.D. and his wife, Karen Berger. “RadNet’s social responsibility goes well beyond the number of patients that we see at our centers; we are intentional in our efforts to meet the needs of the communities we serve, and this award by JVS SoCal recognizes these efforts. We are humbled by this recognition,” said Dr. Berger.

The Founder’s Award, honoring outstanding volunteers who have demonstrated excellence in philanthropic leadership, guidance, and generosity was awarded to Barbara and Tom Leanse, steadfast leaders and active volunteers in the JVS SoCal Women’s Leadership Network and the JVS Scholarship. “We support and participate with JVS SoCal because we believe that teaching people new skills, mentoring them and providing them with academic scholarships is part of our basic faith. We accept the award on behalf of the hundreds of people who contribute financially and with their time to make the various JVS programs successful.”

Inspiration Award recipients included Laura Behary, a program participant who launched a second career after raising children and completing the CareerWork$ Medical Program, Shantell Polk, a mother of six who battled economic hardship to pursue a career in healthcare, and Ernesto Sanchez, a client who came to JVS for support in re-entry after being impacted by the justice system. The JVS SoCal Strictly Business Inspiration Awards celebrate program participants who have overcome adversity to chart a sustainable and fulfilling course for their careers.
