JVS Receives Highest Ranking 5th Year In A Row

Only 4% of U.S. Non-Profits Earn Coveted 4-Stars Five Years in a Row

(LOS ANGELES) For the fifth consecutive year, JVS has received a 4-Star ranking from Charity Navigator, the leading charity rating organization in the country. Only 4% of the 5500 non-profits Charity Navigator evaluated earned this prestigious recognition.

In a letter to JVS CEO Vivian Seigel, Charity Navigator President and CEO Ken Berger wrote, “This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Jewish Vocational Service from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”

The goal is to provide donors with the essential information they need to make informed choices in their charitable giving. Ratings are based on good governance, sound fiscal management, commitment to accountability, transparency and use of best practices.

“We deeply appreciate this recognition of our agency-wide commitment to excellence,” said JVS CEO Vivian Seigel. “JVS is a lifeline as job seekers start to lose hope and fall off the unemployment charts. Our central mission - to help people find jobs - is more critical than ever, particularly as the gap between those who are able to sustain a career and those who have fallen to the poverty level widens. It is only with the generous support of our donors and corporate partners that we are able to impact those in greatest need.”

Forbes, Business Week, and Kiplinger's Financial Magazine, among others, have profiled Charity Navigator’s unique method of applying data-driven analysis to the charitable sector. In fact, it is estimated that last year Charity Navigator influenced approximately $10 billion in charitable gifts.
