JVS Receives Highest Ranking from Charity Navigator

July 2, 2013 -  For the sixth consecutive year, JVS has received the top 4-Star ranking from Charity Navigator, the leading charity rating organization in the country. Only 3% of the nonprofits Charity Navigator evaluated have earned this prestigious recognition for six consecutive years.

The ranking can be viewed on Charity Navigator’s website here.

In a letter to JVS CEO Vivian Seigel, Charity Navigator President and CEO Ken Berger writes, “This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Jewish Vocational Service from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”

Charity Navigator’s goal is to provide donors with the essential information they need to make informed choices in their charitable giving. Ratings are based on good governance, sound fiscal management, commitment to accountability, transparency and use of best practices.

ForbesBusiness Week, and Kiplinger's Financial Magazine have all profiled Charity Navigator’s unique method of applying data-driven analysis to the charitable sector. The organization estimates that last year Charity Navigator influenced approximately $10 billion in charitable gifts.

“We deeply appreciate this continued recognition of our agency-wide commitment to excellence,” said JVS CEO Vivian Seigel. “JVS remains a lifeline for job seekers of all ages, faiths and backgrounds. Our central mission - to improve lives, one job at a time - is more critical than ever, particularly as the gap between those who are able to sustain a career and those who have fallen to the poverty level widens. We acknowledge the generous support of our donors and corporate partners without whose assistance we would be unable to impact those in greatest need.”

For more than 80 years, JVS Los Angeles has offered hope and opportunity to our diverse community through job training, mentoring and education, combined with expert career guidance and employer partnerships, transforming lives and empowering individuals to achieve dignity and independence.
