Specialized Training Available for Eligible Laid-Off Workers Through Getting LA Back 2 Work

If you worked for one of dozens of designated companies throughout the state of California and you're still looking for work or seeking an equivalent or higher paying job, you may be eligible for special training through Getting LA Back 2 Work.

The training may include assessment (basic skills, career and vocational aptitude); customized training and development (tailored using the employers’ specifications); employment preparation (resume and interview skills); job/paid internship placement assistance; vocational training; on-the-job training and supportive services (bus tokens, work clothes, tools, child care). Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

The program is funded through a $17 million grant - which includes JVS - from the U.S. Department of Labor's National Emergency Grant (NEG) program.  The program is facilitated by the City of Los Angeles Community Development Department under the leadership of the Workforce Investment Board (WIB).

To qualify for this program, you must:

  • Have been laid off from one of the listed employers,
  • Have a valid California Drivers License and Social Security Card or a valid U.S. Passport,
  • Have unemployment insurance documentation and a lay-off notice, if appicable,
  • Be registered with available Selective Services (for men only).
