JVS Scholarship Awards 2017-2018 Statistics
At its Selection Meeting on June 19, 2017, the JVS Scholarship Committee awarded over $694,105 in scholarships to 220 local Jewish students with financial need. Awards ranged from $750 to $10,000. Since the inception of the JVS Scholarship Program in 1972, JVS has awarded over 4,600 scholarships in the total amount of over $8.5 million.
Our scholarship recipients are attending community colleges, state universities and private colleges across the country including Georgetown, MIT, NYU, Columbia, Harvard, Stanford, Brandeis, UCLA, USC, Vanderbilt, LA Pierce College and American Jewish University.
Their studies include, but are not limited to medicine, law, business, dramatic arts, graphic design, journalism, non-profit management, architecture, teaching, psychology, early child development, engineering, nursing and family therapy. Ten students plan to be rabbis.
We have students who are pursuing their degrees despite learning and/or physical disabilities. We have students who immigrated here from Israel, Iran and Russia, as well as students who are returning to school after raising their children.
