Deborah’s Story
A survivor of domestic violence, Deborah was living in a shelter when she found the West L.A. AJCC. Referred to the JVS WoMentoring and BankWork$® programs, she gained the confidence, skills and access she needed to restart her life and career. Deborah was immediately hired by Wells Fargo where she worked for several years, before transitioning to a new path in the nonprofit sector working with low income families.

Gabriel’s Story
Unemployed and facing the threat of homelessness for his family, Gabriel turned to the America’s Job Center in Lancaster. He had hoped to become a commercial truck driver but lacked the funds to get the Class A qualification he needed. The AJCC covered the cost of his training and his JVS Career Planner reached out to her contacts at SYGMA on his behalf. He landed the position and two years later, Gabriel is a homeowner.
